Cutting Board, Clement Family

Completed: 2005

Details: The Clement Family Cutting Board (The artist’s maternal great grandmother.) Monoprint, each 21”high x 27” wide

These are prints made from a cutting board used by my family for over 100 years, inked and printed akin to a woodcut print. I’m interested in the marks of meal preparation labor, mostly feminine labor, that largely goes unrecorded. Here it functions like a concrete drawing, or cumulative accounting, of a century of labor.
