Soldier’s Skin

Soldier’s Skin

Soldier’s Skin originated as a site specific project for High Desert Test Sites/5 in 2006. Heffernan photographed the memorial tattoos of Twentynine Palms-based Marines returning from the Iraq War (Andrea Zittel and Lisa Anne Auerbach, curators.) The photographs were later exhibited as prints at the Torrance Art Museum (Kristina Newhouse, curator) and made into give-away posters for Soldier’s Skin, Pasadena City College’s exhibition for the Art + Ideas 2007 festival (Brian Tucker, curator.)
